Altar Guild

The Altar Guild has performed “above and beyond," especially with the 9:00 a.m, service being held in the Parish Hall.  Having to set up two different altars each Sunday could have been a challenge, but they have handled all the details beautifully. In addition to weekly Sunday and Wednesday services, the Altar Guild attends to numerous special services throughout our campus, and even off-site. They handle the entire spectrum of worship services – from joyous events (weddings, baptisms, Blessing of the Animals, etc.), to the sorrowful and somber (funerals and memorial services). Everything they do is handled with respect and compassion.

Beginning in 2009, the Celtic Eucharist became a monthly event. Held at 7:00 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month starting this September, this service invites the congregation to focus on a special theme through special readings, music, and introspection. Usually held in the Parish Hall, members of the Altar Guild create a beautiful worship space that nurtures the soul with colorful and meaningful elements. This “sacred decorating” was originally started by Jean Kirkham, but many other members have taken up her passion.  Rose Field is now the Altar Guild chair.  You may contact her at rosemfield@gmail.com or by phone at 757/876-4515.
