The regular meeting of Grace Church Vestry was held on Monday, February 13, 2012. Carleton reported on preparations for Lent and the joint ecumenical programs with the first being held here on Sunday, February 26, with dinner at 5:30 p.m. and the program to follow led by Rev Ben Campbell of Richmond Hill. Subsequent programs will be at Crooks UMC on March 4, and Yorktown Baptist on March 18. He talked about Annual Council and briefly noted two resolutions that had passed: 1) the sale of Talbot Hall, and 2) the blessing of same gender unions. He also discussed the EfM task force event to be held here on March 11-14. Cornelia Taylor presented her proposal for the raised bed vegetable garden. Paulette Culbert reported the closing date on the Tom Tom’s lane property is scheduled for March 30.   The Vestry approved the selection of a roofing contractor. Replacement of the church roof will begin in the spring. Commission Highlights:   Outreach:  Jeanne Harvey reported on her attendance at Annual Council and suggested sending out an e-mail to the Vestry notifying them of visitors to the church, and for them to pray for the visitor. Also recommended was engaging in a relationship with a local school through monetary and volunteer opportunities, and becoming more active in the village of Yorktown. Evangelism and Communication: The church has a new camera for use in taking photographs of church activities – it’s located in the office and is available for anyone to use. A sign-out form is located on the shelf in the office next to the camera. Stewardship: David Stephens will be resurrecting the finance committee. He will be putting together fiscal policies and plans to establish an endowment program.
