Grace Church Cemetery Committee

This committee oversees the operation of our historical cemetery.  Many funerals and memorial services are conducted here throughout the year, and help is always needed in making preparations and maintaining the gravesites.  If you would like to contribute your time to this effort, please contact Sandy Swift at 565-5255.

In the Historic Churchyard

On the south side of Grace Episcopal Church, parallel to the church wall, lie tombs of some of Virginia's most prominent families.  A serene and peaceful walk through the cemetery will take you past the graves that date from the 1600's, including Thomas Nelson, Jr., a signer of the Declaration of Independence, Nicholas Martiau, George and Elizabeth Martiau Read, "Scotch Tom" Nelson, and William Nelson.
