Grace Episcopal Church Day School

Since 1955, Grace Episcopal Day School has operated as a ministry of historic Grace Episcopal Church in Yorktown, Virginia. This Christian-based, religiously exempt weekday education program provides a wholesome, stable atmosphere conducive to learning.
Using loving care and guidance, we strive to enrich each child's life through age-appropriate activities that enhance their spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical development. We are committed to making our students' preschool years positive learning experiences that prepare them for elementary education.  Currently we have five classrooms with a total capacity of 60 students.  All staff members are required to complete yearly health screenings, background checks, and comprehensive mandatory training for the protection of children and youth.  In addition, the facility carries public liability insurance.

Day School registration is underway for Fall 2021

We are pleased to announce registration for what will be our 65th year after a "pandemic pause" during the 2020-21 school year. Tours are available by appointment only; please contact Interim Director Jean Grinnell at or 757-898-3261, ext. 180 to schedule.

Click here for our online registration form, which you may complete online or print out and mail to (or drop off at) Grace. If you register electronically, your child will not be enrolled until the $190 registration payment (per child) is paid.

Registration payments and printed forms may be sent to Grace Day School, P.O. Box 123, Yorktown, VA 23690, or dropped off between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Grace Church office in the Parish Hall, 111 Church Street, Yorktown.

We have some changes this year: First, our school day will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. Second, classes will be set up differently. Classes for our 2- and 3-year-olds will have the option of choosing either two, three or five days of instruction. Our 4-year-old and Kindergarten classes will meet five days a week. All classes will have a dedicated teacher and aide.

Finally, we will offer before- and after-school care. Our before-school option will allow dropoff starting at 8 a.m. daily; our after-school option will go from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Our registration form includes these options and costs in more detail.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email Interim Director Jean Grinnell at or call her at 757-898-3261, ext. 180.

We look forward to celebrating our 65th year with you and your children.

A testimonial from a Day School parent

"My family was lucky enough to discover Grace Day School two years ago.  We were casually affiliated with another church with a preschool program but the schedule, the reasonable cost, and the teachers at Grace sold us! Our son has learned more than I ever expected from a three-hour program.  He has created lovely artwork I will treasure as he grows older, and we have made our closest family friends through the school  There is a reason they have been in operation for 60 years, both parents and children alike love Grace Day School."  ~Christine Bearden
