Episcopal Church Women (E.C.W.)

The Episcopal Church Women's organization, which began at the national level in 1871, is open to women of all ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds in the Episcopal Church.  E.C.W. has continued its long tradition of supporting outreach programs both at home and abroad.  Meeting twice yearly, in the Spring and the Fall, we focus on programs that are of interest to our women, i.e., social, environmental and issues involving the national church and our own parish.   In 2009 we disbursed over $2,500 to various programs in our local community, worldwide, and in our own parish.

Throughout the year we also provide support to the following programs:

  • The Mitten Tree, which provides gifts of mittens, gloves, scarves, and hats for the children of the Appalachian Mountains.
  • The Jackson-Feild Home for girls in Jarrett, Virginia
  • The Colonial Pie Sale, which raises funds for the W. Wayne Price Memorial Access Ramp.
  • The Silent Auction, one of our main fund raising events during the year.  Held a few weeks before Christmas, it has become a tradition that everyone looks forward to and provides an opportunity to find unique Christmas gifts for family and friends, as well as outstanding food and fellowship.
